Hot off the back of announcing its remap for the Volkswagen Passat 2.0-litre TDI, global ECU remap leader Superchips has introduced a conversion for the Volkswagen 3.0-litre V6 TDI BMT engine used in the Touareg 3.0-litre V6 TDI BMT.

The CVVA-code engine, using Bosch EDC17 CP44 management and developing 262PS from the factory, receives a superb gain in power of 38bhp at 4272rpm and a very healthy increase in torque of 71Nm at 3566rpm. While the increased torque and power curves generally follow the shape of those of the original engine, retaining the car’s inherent driveability, they do iron out a dip in the torque curve present from the factory.

The result is a car that is both easier and more rewarding to drive, thanks to the additional torque and power available throughout the rev range. In addition, drivers can expect to see improvements in fuel economy of up to 7% when compared with a like-for-like driving style.  The remap can also be performed by the owner themselves, using Superchips’ Bluefin device, at a cost of $1,000 RRP. With a Bluefin, users don’t need any mechanical or technical skills, simply plug the Bluefin handset into the diagnostic port (connecting to the vehicle’s Electronic Control Unit) and follow the on-screen instructions.
