Ford Transit Custom 96 Kw ECU Tune review from motorsport enthusiast Darren.

"I decided after 12 months of ownership that it was time for a tune. I wasn’t happy with the fuel economy numbers I was constantly seeing, & felt that there was more to be seen from this awesome little driveline package. I decided to go with Superchips because of the ease of installation, & didn’t really want to have the extra box floating around the engine bay. The OBD2 Upload was easy, & the results are fantastic. I did the remap just before heading off to this years Bathurst 12 Hour race, as I had done the same trip last year. Loaded up quite a bit more than last year, I headed south on the Warrego, & then Newell. Through the night average fuel economy had dropped from 8.3l/100, to 7.5l/100. Maybe not as good as I was expecting, but still an improvement, & I was still learning how to drive with this big fat torque curve I had. On an unloaded trip to Sydney on Saturday the economy fell to 6.1l/100 & I was starting to see the results I expected. The drive home saw us battling high winds, 40 degrees temps & the economy still showed 7.7l/100. But when I did a test of turning off the 2 fridges in the back, & turning off the air con to unload the accessories from the system it dropped significantly down to 7.1l/100. Economy is certainly improved, & as I said I believe it will improve as I learn to drive it better. You just don’t need to be as throttle aggressive, & all the hesitation has gone. You want acceleration, it is there. The driveability, & the seamless integration of the Superchips tune has been great. Everything works as normal, the Auto gearbox still does the same, although is not as quick to look for lower gears because the torque is there to be able to lug down before looking for another gear. I am a fan, & a very happy customer. Jonathon at Superchips made the whole process super easy, & it is showing super results in both driveability, & economy. I will pay for this upgrade in under 12 months with the economy savings alone.”
